.... THE LATEST DUO NEWS! We played last week in Park City for Airbus International. This event was held at the new High West Distillery on Park Avenue. The chef there is our old friend James Dumas who used to have us play when he was chef at Sai Sommet and the Goldener Hirsch in Deer Valley. The place is in the old (newly restored) Livery Stable, and is on the State Historical Registry. It's a beautiful, inviting space, with excellent food and a variety of on-site distilled spirits. It looks like we'll be doing regular gigs there in the summer, so watch this space for details. Check the High West website at http://www.highwest.com/. The second annual (and surely second of many to come) Evening in Brazil concert was an event to remember. The performance hall was sold out; filled with enthusiastic fans of bossa nova, samba, and afro-brazilian music. A video recording of the concert was made; hopefully we can use the video to promote more performances of Brazilian music in other venues Phase 2's performance at the Riverwoods Valentines Day buffet/dance was a sold-out success. Watch for more such events to be held at the Riverwoods Conference Center in south Logan. We have recently learned that Lightwood Duo will be a part of the inaugural season at Dayton, Idaho's new performing arts center. This concert will take place on May 1, 2010. The concert will take place in the Dahle Performing Arts Center; 626 N. Westside Highway in Dayton. Downbeat is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 for general seating and are available at: Stokes Marketplace in Preston, West Side High School in Dayton, at the West Side School District Office in Dayton, and at the door. For questions call 208-747-3502. Lightwood Duo will again be a part of the "Noon at the Tabernacle" concert series this summer. We will open their season on June 1 at noon in the historic LDS tabernacle in downtown Logan. Admission is free. July 10 is the date for our Concert in the Park in Smithfield, Utah. The free performance begins at 7 p.m. at the public park in Smithfield's city center. Bring a lawn chair and snacks! The Duo, joined by drummer Jason Nicholson as well as pedal steel guitar, fiddle, and a bassist (all yet to be contracted), will be the house band for the show "Always ... Patsy Cline" at the Lyric Theatre this summer. Mike will be playing guitar, and Eric will be on piano. You can find scheduling and ticket information at http://csa.usu.edu/2010summerlyric.aspx We completed recording, editing, and mixing seven new tunes this past summer. This project was done at Thirteen Eight Productions with our favorite engineer, John Carter. The completed recordings will soon be posted for all to hear at http://www.myspace.com/lightwoodduo. They will also shortly be available for purchase at iTunes. Lightwood Duo recordings, including some that are out-of-print, are now available for download at iTunes. Open iTunes, search for "Lightwood Duo", and download an entire album or individual tracks. More albums will be added in the next few weeks. We now have a DVD of a Lightwood Duo concert performance. The performance was shot at the new Performance Hall at USU. Most of these performances can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=ericnelsonmusician&search_type=&aq=f. If you would like to request a hard copy of this DVD for promotional purposes, you can do so on the CONTACT page at this website. We have been working frequently with our four-piece rock/jazz band, PHASE TWO. Events with this band are listed on the schedule page; there is also a page at this website (labelled "PHASE TWO") with information and sound samples of the band. We are currently booking for the next concert season. If you are interested in discussing concert bookings, contact us at eric@lightwoodduo.com, or telephone 435-258-5403. |
